Please help me with my outlook account

I have been trying for ever to get my outlook express to work so that I
can send some emails to some potential employers.

I can open it, add addresses, type my message, attach files and so on
and so on...
When I get to the part where I push send, it shows that it is sending
and then another window pops up telling me to enter a password. I
used to years ago have dial up through verizon phone company. I no
longer am going through them and now have high speed cable. I can't
for the life of me remember my password. I set up a new account but
everytime I click send it still asks me for that specific password for
that account.

How do I delete that old one and make it work with my new ISP?

And the funny thing is I am going to school right now for computer
training, more of a hardware person then I am a software person. But as
you can see I haven't used outlook for a very long time. Can someone
shed some light on this subject for me?

Would it be easier to just delete the office suite and reinstall
outlook?

Check the Accounts option in OE and select the MAIL tab and make sure
only the mail profile information for your current ISP's mail server is
listed, anything else then you should delete it.

Also check the Internet Options in Control Panel on the Connections tab
make sure it is not set to dial any connection.

okay so I did what you said to do and everything is as it should
be...there is no dial connection in the internet options and there is
only one account on the accounts tab..

But when I go to say like craigslist and click on their link to send
them and email and i get everything all figured out and i push send it
still tells me that it is connecting to verizon and it wants me to
enter a password and when i push cancel it just says that the task
failed..I don't know if it something that I am doing wrong or if it
just the program being difficult?
