There can be a number of reasons.. here are three of them..

#1.. you bought and installed the wrong Office suite

#2.. you asked for the wrong Office suite when ordering your computer

#3.. you wrongly assumed that MS Office was part of Windows XP

Ways to overcome your problem

#1.. if you have Freelance Graphics installed, see if there is an option to
save in PowerPoint format

#2.. download the 60 day trial of Office Standard and don't waste any time
completing your project

#3.. purchase MS Office

#4.. ask the computer vendor about switching office suites..

Good luck

Actually, Mike, you're missing the point completely. The correct answer is
that the numbskull bought a Dell and didn't check its options carefully.
Dell ships WPO as standard and charges extra for Office. Had they wanted
Office they should have chosen it when they purchased the system (an extra
US$279). But they didn't, so now they're whining.

It's their own fault. And I don't believe FG is compatible with PP.

I guessed that it was a Dell that had been bought, because it was loaded
with Corel WP Office.. I knew that, when ordering, there was a choice of
software, but didn't know that there was a charge for the MS option.. thank
you for the info..

In the clear light of day, I also remember that Freelance Graphics is
actually part of Lotus Smartsuite, not WordPerfect Office.. Presentations is
the WP offering.. the blurb suggests that WP Office can handle MS Office
files, so Presentations should be able to generate files that PowerPoint can
use..

The last version of WP Office I ever used was 7, and I loved it.. I think
that the OP should give WP Office 12 a chance..

Look for a program in the suite called Presentations.. you should be able to
create what you want and save in a format that MS PowerPoint can read..
WordPerfect Office users may not be so thick on the ground, but I do not
consider they are at a disadvantage just because their Office suite is not a
product of the Microsoft Corporation..

WordPerfect graphics images supplied as standard were among the best that I
have ever seen, and the ease with which supplied templates can be changed
combined with the options given for change, I would consider to be an
industry standard..

Give the programs a chance, and learn how to use them.. you might just find
that you prefer them to the MS offerings..

I thought that too, but I figured you knew better than I. Not use WPO for
years, when I did my secretarial training yonks ago I learned on WP3 for DOS
v5.1, IIRC. Blue screens with yellow text.

Sorry, I can't type more. Have a new keyboard (the enter key died on my
other one) and I hate it - it's making my RSI (CTS) worse.

WP 5.1.. the halcyon days of word-processing.. WP 5.2, WordPerfect attempt
at a Windows wordprocessor.. WP 6.. WP7 finally gets it right.. no idea what
happened after that.. lol.. WP 8/9/10 continued to ensure that over 90% of
all wordprocessor/office suite users stayed with MS Office..

Meanwhile, Lotus are trying to assemble a suite of their own.. AmiPro is
bought from Samna and rapidly becomes AmiPro3, half wp, half DTP.. left so
far behind, it is re-released as the worlds most feature packed wp ever..
Lotus WordPro is choc full of context sensitive menus, but they are like a
fairground duckshoot.. popping up relentlessly everywhere.. Lotus 123
becomes Lotus 123W.. smokin.. Lotus Organizer becomes the single best
selling app ever, but still doesn't integrate with anything, least of all
its stable mates.. do the new owners fix the problems?.. nope.. continue
down the snake back to square one.. lol..

Enough of this heresy.. MS Office rocks.. :)
