PowerPoint 2003 and video

When inserting an .avi into a presentation the video will just show a black
box. I've already tried shortening the file path, as recommended in earlier
the posts that addressed this problem.

The problem is PowerPoint, which seems to be very picky with videos. AVI
videos won't run in every PC configuration, so there's only two things that
will definitely work: MPEG & WMV.
You could try the trialware – VidLogo in order to convert your AVI to MPEG
or WMV. This would be the best choice, I guess.
