Powerpoint Accessing Internet at Startup

Paul Jacobson

Powerpoint has started to access the internet at startup.
Is this normal behaviour? How do I stop it? I have
scanned the Microsoft office program folders with Norton
AV and have found nothing.

Hi Paul,

After PowerPoint starts, create a new blank presentation
and then click on File, Properties, and see if there's an
entry in the Hyuperlink Base box. If so, delete it and
follow the directions here for a new blank template:
Create a default "blank" presentation with your own
defaults
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00245.htm

If the hyperlink base is already empty, go to Word and
click on Tools, Options, File Locations and make sure
there aren't any URLs listed there.

Thanks for the response but actually, there were no urls when powerpoint
fired up its default. The field was blank.
Also, I could see no URLS. in the file location in Word.
Are there any registry settings that might have become a problem?
There is also no base URL in the properties of the default Word document but
it is clearly also checking out the internet.

Have you installed an add-in or something else?

Also, sometimes having the Clipart / Office Online taskpane active can make
PowerPoint access the internet.
