Previously complete tasks become incomplete

I am working on a project with 15-20 project schedules in Standard 2003.
There are many cross project links and resources (through a global resource
pool). After 2 years, we are starting see some strange activity in the
schedules.

A project that previously had multiple tasks marked complete was opened and
those tasks are now marked incomplete. We know that they were previously
marked complete after looking at a recent (within a week) backup.

What is happening here?

Has anyone added some remaining work?

It's possible there is file corruption if anyone has renamed, moved or
over-written any file. If in doubt, un-attach the file from the pool and
save the file and the pool. Save the file as .xml. Close then re-open the
file from the xml file type, this will hopefully remove any corruption.
Re-attach to the pool.

Worst case is the Resource pool has corrupted in which case you will need to
un-attach all files then create a new blank pool file and re-attach all
files.
