problem w. closing document

When I try to close a document to which I've made no changes, why am I asked
if I want to save changes? The document should simply close, shouldn't it?

Even if you have made no changes, there are changes that can happen behind
the scene. If the document contains a { DATE } field, that gets updated
every time you open the document. If you print the document, the
LastPrintDate property is updated. And there are any number of things a
macro can do to make Word think the document needs saving.

If this is Word 2002 or 2003, see “WD2002: You Are Prompted to Save Changes
When You Close a Document Even Though You Have Made No Changes†at
