Problems moving Entourage 2001 mailbox to a new computer

Steve Aschettino

Hi,
I'm setting a user up with a new iMac...

Old machine:
OS 9.2, Entourage 2001, Sr1

New Machine: (same config)
OS 9.2, Entourage 2001, Sr1

Anyhow, I tried replacing the "Main User Identity" folder (Documents --
Microsoft Office Data -- Office 2001 Identities -- Main User Identity), and
it worked on a few machines... The last machine I attempted to do this on,
it didn't work...

When I open Entourage on the new machine, it says "Database is for wrong
version of Entourage" or something of that nature...

Thanks in advance for any help.

In most cases it can happened if you copy Identity from ENT2001 to ENTX,
because of different identity structure. To workaround this:
- create new identity in ENTX (10)
- import your data from ENT2001 (9) identity. (go to File menu, Import)

To check the Entourage version: Go to Entourage Menu, About Entourage. Read
the version number. (not a copyright year)

If you are sure that you are using the same version of Entourage, than
try to rebuilt your identity database, hold the option key when you start
the ENT.

Thank you,
Vsevolod.
