Problems with dependencies

Hello,

I use MS Project 2003 together with MS Project Server.
I have a task that need to be set to start in a specified day and that must
finish in the same day with another task whose duration will change
(implicitly its end day will change).
I set up for the first task a "must start on" constraint, I link it with the
second task with a "finish to finish" seting and I played a lot with Fix
work, Fix units, Effort Driven and Estimate settings, but I didn't succeed to
change the task 1's duration whenever I modified the task 2's duration.
Everytime I was asked to allow a conflict between tasks and when I did that
the start and finish dates for my first task remained unchanged.
Does anybody has an ideea what to do.
Thank you very much.

Jianu,
What you basically want is what is called a 'hammock task". Go to the
MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
and look at FAQ 19 - Hammock Tasks

Hope this helps.
