Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I can't change the font. I've been trying through Format menu and it doesn't work. I want to change from Times New Roman to Arial, but when I choose Arial it still comes back to Times...
Thank you for any help

Are you working in a new blank document or trying to change the font of text
you've already typed? If the latter you have to select the text first.

Is the change intended to be for current content only or are you trying to
change the default font?

Please provide a complete & accurate description of exactly what the
conditions are & what specific steps you're taking. What you've disclosed so
far is not sufficient to offer anything more.

Hi,
Yes, I'm working in a new blank document and want to change the font before I start typing. There's no problem with the change after I've selected the text.
I want to make change for current content, but would appreciate your advice how to do it if I wanted to change the default font, as well.
Thanks and regards
D.

To set a different font as the default just go into the Format> Font dialog,
make the settings you want to use, then click the Default button in the
lower left corner before you OK out.

I did what you told me and it doesn't work . Even if change the font through Format - Font dialog and I click the Default it still comes back to the previous one - Times New Roman. I really don't know what to do :(.

The first thing I'd suggest is to use the OS X application called Font Book
(or other decent font management software) to check out your fonts. You want
to resolve any duplicates & identify any bad fonts you may have. Do so while
Word isn't running. Then try setting the default font again by following the
previous directions while a new blank document is displayed. If it still
doesn't "take"...

Does a confirmation dialog appear when you click the Default button? Once
you click OK if the chosen font doesn't appear in the Font List of the
Formatting Toolbar or Formatting Palette, close the blank doc without
saving, then create a new blank doc & see if the correct font is used.

If you're still not getting the proper results follow the directions here
for testing/replacing your Normal.dotm template:

Let us know how you make out.
