Project '03 Sartup "GBUI" error

G

George B.

My MS Project 2003 Standard just started giving me an
error message at startup that says:

"The command is attempting to use a web page
gbui://blank.htm" It goes on to tell me tha I need to
add the site as a trusted site in Explorer.

No matter what I do, nothing works. Any help or insight
out there?

I came across this solution just yesterday. Seems to work
great. Problem is actually embedded in the guide that
comes up when you open project. Do the below to turn off
the guide at startup (you can always open it again from
the menus and it works okay).

1. Use your favorit registry editor (start -> run ->
regedit)

2. navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MS
Project\Options\Interface

[note: the office\11.0 is for office 2003; use \10.0 for
XP, \9.0 for office 97]

3. Create a new "dword" called "GBUIDisplayToggle" with
value 0 (zero)

4. reboot

Project should open up fine now.

George,

It's giving you this error when you simply start the application alone, or
if you double-click on a MPP or some other Project compatible file?

What was the last "successful" thing you did in Project? Also make sure
you're not starting it from a shortcut with some type of commandline options.

There is no path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\MS
Project\Options\Interface
for XP

Any other ideas?

Kitajib:

The key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MSProject\Options\Interface
"GBUIDisplayToggle"=dword:00000000

The point of the post is that the key is missing, you need to create this
key to solve your problem.
