Project 2000 - total resource usage ??

I have four plans sharing a resource pool. These four plans reflect the
entire workload of many small project for an entire dept in our Company.
Although I can see the resource loading for individual resources what I want
to be able to do is see the overall aggregated loading for the entire
resource pool. In this way I would see the total workload for the Dept over
time.
Does anybody know how to do this?

Insert all the projects into a master project file. Then use the resource
view of your choice. All programs in the master file are included.

Thanks for this. Not sure it answers the question though. Or maybe I didn't
quite ask the right question.

There are currently 6 files altogether. The four mentioned plus the resource
pool file plus a Master file. In every case - unless I am doing something
wrong - when I look at resources I do see the complete view as reflected
through the resource pool. So I can see that Fred is at 58% this week and
120% next week etc etc over time for Fred and likewise for the other poeple
in the Dept.

This in itself is useful to the Dept Mgr because we can see the peaks and
troughs in people's workload. Obviously this helps with workload balancing.\

But what I would ideally like to be able to do is have a Resource Graph for
the whole Dept so I can see a bar graph over time showing the collective load
on the whole Dept. A text style report would be OK too but not as visually
clear. The market for this info is senior mgmnt so I figure the graph style
might have more impact.

Either way what I'm looking for is really a resource histogram for the whole
project rather than just individuals. And just to make it slightly harder
there are a couple of resources I would want to exclude from the data since
they are tasks for individual client reviews.

Any help much appreciated thanks

Consider exporting the data from the Master Project file using the "Analyze
Time Phased Data in Excel" from the analysis toolbar. You will want to
export time phased work. I believe the Resource Usage View in combination
with teh Analyze Time Phased Data will give you what is desired.

Dave, Jim - thanks for this. Both options do help. It does prove that the
resource data in the four donor plans is incomplete - others need to be
chased up about that.............

The only issue with the Dave FAQ answer is that when you select names from
the list above there is a limit on how many you can select at once. Didn't
check what the limit is but of course lower than what I wanted.

I tried all this with MSP 2007; our Co has now seen the light and upgraded
