Project 2003 error: to many nested macro commands

Rainer Kegel

Hi all

We are using the german version of MS Project 2003 and have lots of
functions that are stored in Global.mpt and that are called via custom
menus. This has worked fine since the first version of MSP2003.

Unfortunately since a few months once in a while the following error message
pops up when invoking a custom menu:

Microsoft Office Project:
Too many nested macro commands. (or the original error message in german:
"Zu viele geschachtelte Makrobefehle.")

We have no clue why this error suddenly occurs because we haven't changed
anything at the MS Project installation or at the Global.mpt we are using.

All that changed the system during that time are Windows or Office updates.

Has anyone seen this error before? Unfortunately I cannot find any hints on
the internet...

Thanks and regards
Rainer

Hi,

This group is meant to be closing, so please use the project.programming
group in future.

To answer your question. it's possible you have a corrupt Global.mpt file. I
would copy all functions, toolbars etc into a .mpp file using the Organizer
then close Project.
Rename the Global.mpt file to include a datestamp.
Re-start Project. This should create a new Global.mpt file for you.
Use Organizer to copy all custom elements into the new Global.
