project "global" times

J

james johnstone

My question revolves around how project sets its time. I
have figured out how to change the project start date, for
projects that im planning for in the future (ie. select
project tab then select project information), there you
can change the project start date. However when i click
on the calendar tab at the side pane of project when im
working in the gantt chart screen under my project
timeline, the default month and year that comes up is
september 1985 in the calendar screen. what the heck?
eventhough my project is approximately the current date, i
have to scroll through 15 years of nonsense. this also
occurs with the tracking gannt chart tab at the side pane,
except now its july 28, 1997 that comes up. what is the
reason for these random dates? they don't prevent me from
finding the appropriate time and doing my work but it is
annoying. please help with these questions and maybe
outline and help with other places the same problem might
occur.

Hi James,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try selecting a task in the Gantt view first.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)
