Protected columns?.. can't change data using IE

I've opened a project document using IE 7.0. I don't know what version
of Project the doc was created in but I suspect 2003 or prior.

I made a local copy of the file on my c: drive.
I am able to modify select columns (like task name), add new task rows
and can delete existing task rows, however, I can't modify Duration
(days) , start or finish date columns. When I select them they show up
as gray.

Hi wildman,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

I can't say what's wrong or even if it is wrong. You will need an
installation of Project to do what you want.
