Publish question

Kathy

Actually I have two questions...

When I publish to my site from my computer, if I do
Publish Web and click on Options and instead of leaving it
as changed pages, I change it to "all pages, overwriting
pages already written to destination", will that
completely wipe out the existing web and replace it with
the files on my computer? Kind of like starting from
scratch? There are some files on the destination web that
are not on my computer, so will it wipe out them also, or
just the ones that are in the same location and have the
same name?

I have one other, probably rather ridiculous question...
When I look at my website located on my computer using
windows explorer, the folder for the web doesn't have a
globe in it. I had previously made a copy of that web and
called it something else and that one does have a globe in
it. Why doesn't the web I'm currently using show a globe
on the folder?

Thanks,
Kathy

Publish all replaces all files and FP structure (nav, etc) on the server,
- but does not necessarily delete unused old files / folders on the server

You should only "move" or copy FP disc based sites using FP (not windows explorer)
File Publish Web and chose a new location / name - say C:\MyNewWeb

So, when I'm doing a backup of all my computer files, (I
usually just copy them onto a cd), I should do my web
stuff separately then using the software?

If it doesn't have the globe, is it looked at differently
and maybe wouldn't work as it should or is the globe more
of an informational thing?

The globe is just an icon file for windows to make it look different
