Publisher 2002 won't open publications from 2000

We just upgraded all our computers from Office 2000 to Office XP. But now we
can't open any of our publications made with 2000 over the network. Publisher
2002 just sits there and stops responding when trying to open a file that was
created with Publisher 2000. We can open publications from Publisher 2000 if
we copy the file to the local system first, but for some reason we can't open
them directly from our Novell server. Word documents work fine, the problem
is only with Publisher. Any suggestions?

You have answered your own question. Publisher is *not* network-friendly and
does not like having its files saved directly to, or opened directly from, a
remote drive. The way you're doing it is the only solution.

Okay, thanks for your help! It used to work fine with Publisher 2000. Is it
only 2002 that has the problem working off mapped network drives? Would
working off a Windows server make a difference?
