Publisher 2003 Installation

We are wanting to upgrade our existing Publisher 98 to Publisher 2003. Can
we install Publisher 2003 on two seperate computers within our home or do we
need to buy two copies of the program?

Two copies.

Unless one system is portable, in which case you can install on both as long
as they are not both used concurrently.
My desktop PC is portable. Well, it would be if I got a rucksack strong
enough.

Your tower must be smaller than mine. And I'm also assuming you don't have a
19" CRT monitor. I've toted my tower downstairs but the monitor doesn't go
anywhere!

We have one of the small slimline Dell desktops (inherited from the local
university) and a 15" TFT (from the same location). The slimline machines
only take half-height PCI cards, which are difficult to find (at least
without having to remove the backing plate from them).
Have you seen those big hiking rucksacks? The largest of them should be
just about large enough to carry most machines, if you exclude a CRT.

This brought back memories (nightmares???) of my old IBM Portable PC
commonly known as the Luggable. Full sized PC with a handle and canvas bag
to carry it in. Weighed about 45 pounds. I still use the carrying bag as a
suitcase.

Thanks for the responses to my question. Come to think of it, my second
desktop is really not that heavy and it would not require such a large
rucksack. It does move about from time to time.

I've always been curious how the program would know if one machine was a
laptop and the other a desktop...or if portable is the operative word...what
if I put my 2nd desktop in my little red wagon?

You mean an Optiplex, Ed? I have one of those (well I used to - it
bit the dust six months ago and Dell wanted £500 to replace the
motherboard and PSU). Being as it was of an older vintage (circa 1998
- P3 1GHz)

Sounds like the one that I have - I think it's newer than 1998 though. My
second desktop machine was 1999 vintage and was a PIII 450 (and 500 was
about the best you could get for a reasonable price)

You can get a whole new Dell PC now for better than £500 (or from most other
manufacturers for that matter).
Shows the way Dell are trying to push you.
