Publisher 2003 locks up when using tables

In creating a table, the lines do not show even with correct settings.
Program also locks up when attempting to create tables or open a document
that has a table.

Go to the manufacturer's web site of your video adapter and look around for an
upgraded driver.

Computer is updated and this also happens to another new Dell computer that a
friend bought in the last several months as we did. Dell support only lasted
30 days and we will not pay for it now.

Both computers have Office 2003 suites. Ours the Pro version and the
friends has the home version. Also, we cannot open previously created MS
Publisher documents that have tables.

Tables is the issue and we believe other new PC owners must have the same
problem.

I tried to detect and repair with the original Office install disk but it
winds up with being "unable to install." I can "detect and repair" from MS
Publisher, but it makes no difference.

Microsoft data base has no reference to the problem.

Any more ideas?

One point. There is no such thing as a home version of Office.

The lines not appearing is a video driver issue. Doesn't matter if computer
is new. Drivers are often outdated by the time they are purchased by the end
user. Computer manufacturers don't update the drivers they use on a regular
basis.

Does your system lock up with any Publisher with a table or are you talking
about just one file? If you'd like I can create a simple file with a table
and you could try to open it.

Dell will have updates for their products, it has nothing to do with warranties. This
is not a Publisher issue.
If the video driver needs upgrading Dell will have the new drivers available for
free. If you have a video card such as NVIDIA or ATI, their site will have upgraded
drivers, you can bypass Dell altogether.
