In a newsletter, I position the cursor where I want to place text in a text
box.

Then I click on import a word document, find the document double click and
whala it shows up on a separate page. I have to copy and paste it to the
right place in the newsletter.

Is there a way to import the text right into the document, or is it just
normal for the above to happen?

That is normal, unless you actually do a copy/paste into your text box.
