Have windows ME. Publisher installs but will not open. I
get a Kernel32.dll error. Tried the work around listed by
Mictosoft but it is for older OS's unable to rename
Msvcrt40.dll. I am to restart windows in MS-DOS mode? How
do you do this in ME? I can open DOS but that did nothing.
Any Help

Hold down CTRL while your PC boots. Go to "Command Prompt Only" on the list
of options.

You need to do the EXE file listed below as well. The MSVCRT40 is only half
a fix.

Rename the MSPub.exe and the MSVCRT40.DLL in the Windows System folder and
copy directly from the MS Pub CD the above two files to your Publisher and
Windows\system folder.
If you do not have enough experience to rename the MSVCRT40.DLL from Dos,
then follow these instructions here to do it.
Close ALL programs press the CTRL ALT+ DEL keys and end
ALL tasks except for Explorer and Systray, then open Explorer and rename
the MSVCRT40.DLL to MSVCRT40.XXX
