Publisher 98 with XP

I need help. I moved my MS Publisher 98 onto my Windows
XP platform on my Dell. The computer says it placed the
program into Program Files\MS Office. But, when I go to
the Start button, I don't see an MS Office folder, nor do
I find MS Publisher 98. Only when I go to My Computer
and go through the registry can I find the folder.

What can I do to put it into Start for real, even though
it says it's there already, but it's not.

Thanks,

Archer

When you say you "moved" Publisher 98, do you mean you installed it with the
disk or what? Why not create an icon instead of a link thru the Programs
menu?

I'm just hoping he doesn't really mean the registry. Perhaps he means
Windows Explorer?

The computer says that the program has been placed into Program
Files\Microsoft Office because that is where the program is located on the
hard disk. The Start menu is not a guide to what is on your hard disk.

Try going to Start > Search, and searching for "mspub.exe", and running the
file that it finds. I predictiate that it will not work.

You cannot just copy a program from one drive to another any more. Each
program has a wealth of stuff it stores in places other than the program
folder, most of which is impossible to isolate. This is why programs now
have installer CDs. You will need to find your Publisher 98 installation CD
and run it on your new computer. Setup will then create an icon on your
start menu for you to run Publisher.
