No, Publisher 2003 and older to not have PDF support built in. The first
version of Publisher to offer this support is Publisher 12, currently in
beta testing, and won't be released until fall of 2006.

Recently, I paid a visit to the Primopdf website and noticed they are
offering version 2.0. Is this ground breaking news, or am I just old
and slow?

I don't know. I never use it. I downloaded it once to see if it worked. I
have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 at home, and 6.0 on my secondary computer at work. I
just ordered 7.0 for my main pc at work.

Don, the new version not only offers a few new features, it also produces a
smaller pdf file size that it did. Its time for you to do a new series of
tests. ;-)

Don,

I understand. I was just suggesting that you do a new test, to see if
PDF-XChange still makes the smallest files, and generally how it stacks up.
No biggy...

David,

I don't use Primopdf, just made a visit to see what others are up to. I use
PDF-XChange, a modest costing program that beats all other pdf programs for
the smallest files and it makes e-mail addresses and urls active within the
pdf file.

I wonder what the trade-off is for smaller PDFs?

David,

I have had folks who have Adobe do a pdf creation of the same Publisher
and Word files I did a PDF-XChange creation. PDF-XChange beat Adobe by a
bushel and a peck. Tracker Software, the makers of PDF-XChange has a
challenge posted on their website taking on any PDF creating software for
file size. File size can be a significant issue when e-mailing out
newsletters or some other humongous file. I being, or is it me being
(Sarah, nolo contendere) a engineer, retired, respects the value of money
and therefore free is hard to beat but free can be beaten depending on
one's needs.
