Publisher file too large to email

I place a full page ad in two local real estate magazines. I usually design
the ad in publisher and it includes approx. 6 photos of properties we have
for sale. The publication is now 6MB in size which is too large for most
email providers and keeps getting kicked back. I right clicked and hit send
as "zip" file but the size of the file remained the same. How can I reduce
the size of the file to email it? It needs to be much less than 1MB in size.

Thanks.

Virtually all quality print publications are likely to be larger than 1MB.
If it is your ISP or mail provider blocking the message, you need to find a
new mail provider.
If it is the real estate agent's server blocking the files, then they need
to get a clue.

If you convert to PDF, you might get the filesize down below 1MB, but you
will probably have to sacrifice image quality to achieve this.

Ask the magazine if they have an FTP site which will accept uploads.
My printer has this; I produce booklets which are more than 50MB with
photos. Alternatively, get a Yahoo account if you don't already, and
upload the file to Yahoo Briefcase. That gives you 30MB.
Then enable the file for sharing and email them the link.

Cathy,

Are you using an older version of Pub? There was one (2000?) that "kept"
images even after they were deleted. The workaround I think was to
copy/paste the present elements to a new file. Also, pay attention to
the placed resolution of your images. They do not need to be any higher
than 200 dpi. It is very easy - if one is using a good digital camera -
to have images with a placed resolution of 600 dpi or more.
