Publisher quits when changing file directories

Publisher 2003 quits when changing directories to find another file to work
on. It locks up and then says "Not Responding". It then asks "Send Error
Report?". It then shows a link to connect for a download to correct the
problem, as though it is going directly to the correction of the problem.
Instead it puts me in a maze of other "Items" that have no relation to my
problem. When I click on what I think I need it will not download. This is
very frustrating and time consuming thereby killing my productivity. I
cannot get done what I need to do using Publisher 2003.

Thank you Mary, for responding to my propblem. I greatly appreciate it.

All of the documents that I use in Publisher 2003 were created in Publisher
2003. Sometimes it has been on a different computer, but it was always with
Publisher 2003.

It happens when I try to open a new file. My Documents directory comes up,
but I know that the document I want to work with is in "Shared Documents".
When I click on the "Drop down arrow" to switch to Shared Documents is when
the program becomes 'Non-Responsive'. I have found this also happens in my
Compaq computer at my shop. The computer that I am using here at home is a
Gateway. I maybe able to work around this problem by copying my file from
'Shared Documents' to 'My Documents' prior to opening up Publisher 2003. I
have not tried that yet.

Might be you don't have shared documents configured correctly. Although
configuring mapped drives could be your solution.
