publishing two seperate files under one browser account

I have set up my ftp account through yahoo. I have two website files (one in
english and the other in japanse) that I would like to put on the web. The 2
files are linked to each other, but the links do not work once up on the web.
They do however, work on the computer. How do I go about fixing this?

make sure the links are correct and the folders/filenames have no spaces or
illegal characters in them.

Thanks for the quick response. The links and address are correct. I have
double checked multiple times. After I log into my FTP, I see my two files
which are named index and index 1 (japanese page and english page,
respectively). Also in view are the folders for each of the files containing
all the pages and images for the web site.

Again, the two pages are published through the "publish to the web' command
in the publisher program. The two files are connected by using the
navigation bar. The main url works fine for the first file, but does not
connect to the second file once clicking the navigation bar.

I am beginning to wonder if I am not allowed to have two seperate files
under one url name? Or two seperate files in my ftp? If so, will I be able
to combine the two files into one in publisher without having duplicate links
on the page? (File 1 is in english, File 2 is in Japanese)

Your help is greately appreciated!!!

Assuming that you are using Pub 2003 or 2007, and the default settings, then
when you Publish to the Web, Publisher will produce an index.htm file and an
index_files folder that contains your other pages and all your supporting
graphics. The navbar links are relative, and when you mix up two different
Publisher files together as you did by uploading them all to the same
directory folder, the links are not going to work correctly.

One way to organize your web directory is to create the second language
version with a second Publisher file as you did, but upload the web output
to a subfolder on your host for your other language version, and cross link
between the versions. Here is an example of a Spanish and English version of
a Publisher built website:
http://www.somoscapazes.org/ where the subfolder "english" contains the
second version. Just click on the "English" link in the upper left corner of
the default Spanish version (http://www.somoscapazes.org/english/index.htm),
and "Espanol" on the English version. Look at how the cross links are
written.

Please post any follow up or other web questions to the web group:
microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign and we will try to help you there.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I am using Publisher 2002. Will this be
a problem with what you had specified? I am trying at the moment, but still
have difficulties.

You are confused. You are using Pub 2003, not 2002. Go to Help > About
Publisher and you will see that you are using 2003.

If you have other questions, please post in the web group.

Just looks like your link (the one with japanese characters) is linked to
your english home page...try renaming your japanese home page to something
else and redo that link to it.

| http://www.cnotetranslations.com/index1.htm is the Japanese home page.
| http://www.cnotetranslations.com/index.htm is the English home page.
|
| Change those links and the site seems to work ok.
