In EXCEL, WORD & Power Point there is no recent used filelist on the menu and
the option is grayed out in the Tools-Options-General tab.

Thanks for your help, but I tried, but it didn't change anything. The problem
does not only exist in word, but EXCEL Power Point as well.

Huh?

Well...you might want to give Detect and Repair a shot. It's under

Detect and Repair didn't work. However, Office XP had to be reinstalled on
this computer. It was installed in a non-default directory, but was installed
in :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office XP
Does this infor help?
Thanks,
Carl

The dir path doesn't matter. I have mine installed on this system at
c:\Office2K, c:\OfficeXP, c:\Office03. As long as files are not moved
once installed, the registry will know where to find things.

Thanks for your help Dian.
At this point it looks like I may have to live with it. Do you think a
reinstall would work?

Do you have TweakUI installed? If yes, and it is the older version, check
your Paranoia settings to ensure that you have not checked the box to clear
the Recent Documents from the start menu. If you are using the later
version (for Windows XP), then check the Explorer Option to ensure that you
did not uncheck "Allow Recent Documents on Start Menu."

(BTW...I missed the top of this thread cos' I've compressed this and
don't remember...you DID do the data key thing in the beginning,
right. If not, make sure you give that a shot.)

Thanks again, but I definitely do not have Tweak UI installed. I don't use it.
