recover file

Hi - I opened a file in outlook and lost it - it should
be in a folder with the numbers 81 in it - I caught a
glimpse of it before it went away - I can't find it with
search or in the root directory - where does outlook put
an attachment, and how do I get it back (this computer is
running xp)

The attachment is still stored in the mail message or other Outlook item from which you originally opened it. The other file that you saw was a temporarily file created when you opened the attachment and deleted when you closed it.
