Reload Access 97

For various reasons, I had to re-format my hard drive. When I try to load
Access 97, which is a competitive upgrade edition, I get a message that Setup
has searched my hard drive and cannot find any of the qualifying products
listed on the box (which, of course, is long gone). Searching Microsoft's Web
site I find that a qualifying product is Microsoft Works Suite (any edition).
I have installed Microsoft Works Suite 2002, but still cannot load Access 97.
Of course, Access 97 is no longer supported by Microsoft Technical Support.
Any suggestions?

While a Works Suite might be a qualifying upgrade for Access 97 I would assume
it would have to be a copy of Works that is the same age as Access 97 or older.
Access 97 likely cannot recognize a product that came out after it was written
as a piece of qualifying upgrade software.

The cost of "Upgrade" version is that you need a qualifying product to install
it.

They are written on the Office 97 package, briefly:
-All prev versions of Office or Works
-Borland Office, Corel Wordperfect, Lotus Smartsuite, Novell Perfect Office
-Word, Wordperfect, Wordstar, etc. Most spreadsheets.
-(databases) Access, Foxpro, dBase, Paradox, Filemaker, Dataease, Lotus
Approach, Oracle, Superbase, Symantec Q&A.

Works Suite 2002 post-dates Office97, so presumably it can't be an upgrade?

Thanks, Rick and Chris. I will try to find an earlier version of Works, and
perhaps try to re-load Dbase or FoxPro (if I can still find my older
versions).

In many cases it is not necessary to actually install the qualifying product.
You might just need to insert the install cd or disks when prompted by the Acces
setup program.

Normally in '97, if you select Browse when asked for the qualifying product,
and browse to the CD from which you are installing, it will accept that as a
qualifying product. This works in Offivce 97 Pro, Don't know about Access
on its own.
