Remove Vacation day

G

George Wilson

I am assisting a customer using Project 2002 on a Windows
2000 system. A vacation day was scheduled for a resource
and the task and dependant tasks were updated to reflect
the extra day needed to complete the task. The vacation
day was designated by using the change working time
feature for that particular resource. The vacation day was
canceled and this tasks duration, start and end date are
correctly reflected, but the dependant tasks are still
showing the extra day for duration, start and end dates. I
would tend to think this should update automatically as it
did when the vacation was originally scheduled but it has
not. Is there an action that needs to be performed to
update the dependant tasks after this type of resource
reschduling?
TIA

Hi George,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

It sounds to me that you have some constraints set up somewhere. Try
View/Table:Entry/More tables.../select Constraint Dates/Apply. Unless you
have extreme reasons of having constraints, set them all to As soon as
possible (Change the top one and fill down).

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))

Thank you for your reply. I did as suggested and checked
the constraints, they are already set to as soon as
possible. There are multiple resource calendars in the
mix, might that effect the duration time?

Hello George,

Instead of date constraint on the followinfg tasks, haven't you some actual
start ?

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm the person that ask
George to look into the problem. All of the tasks in the
plan are constrained to "As Soon As Possible."

Thanks for your comment. Actual start dates on all tasks
in the test plan are set at "NA."

Thank you for your suggestion. In additon to the standard
project calendars there is a "Sandia" calendar containing
the Sandia Corp. holidays. The plan has two resources -
Sandia resource (using the Sandia calendar) and Non-Sandia
resource (using the standard calendar). Changes to either
the Sandia calendar, or the resource calendar for the
Sandia resource produces the problem described. All of
the Predecessor tasks in the plan have their task
calendars set to "None."
