Removing pictures

I have and use Micro. Word. I recently recieved an Email that used Microsoft word to email pictures. I have it so I was able to view them. I have friends who don't have Microsoft word and could not view them. So I was trying to put them into "my pictures" so I could send them a different way, but can not remove them. If I save the file to "my pictures folder" it saves it in micosoft word format. Can someone please help?
Thank you,

The best method (and it's not great) is to save the document as HTML. Any
graphics get saved separately in a sub-folder called Files....

try to right click on the picture only. hopefully this
will bring up a menu that has save as... as one of the
choices. save the picture as a .bmp or .jpg file. you
should be able to use it that way.
