Hi Jim,
Consider a situation where you have versions of a software. Each version is
a project in a master gantt.
Once the version is released, I don't need it anymore so I can delete it.
But if i'll do that, I return all the other version's dates backwards
(they're connected to the deleted version) to their "start no earlier than"
date that was there when the gantt was created. I need the dates to remain as
they are now despite the deletion.

Thanks,
Assaf

You could manually key the date if you have nothing else to link it to. I'd
add a note in the notes field to explain why. ou could have a milestone such
as "Authority to Proceed" and key that date.

If you have many projects that are stand alone releases as their own files
with their own Project Start Date, you could adjust the start date
(Proejct/Project Informatilon) and/or use the Adjust dates (Analysis Toolbar)
with a note as to why the start date changed in the Project Summary Task
(Task ID 0)

Then, the Master Project file (with all its subprojects) just becomes a
reference item and you would add/delete releases (files) as needed for
reporting purposes. This might eliminate the links between the files.
However, I also see the need for the links... especially if you have a
release that depends on a functionality that became available in an earlier
release.

Many roads lead to Rome...
