Requesting virus scan...

DSL-Dave

Whenever I start either Word or Excel, I get the following message:

"Requesting virus scan..."

Does anyone know where I can shut off the scan, as my antivirus software
does this already.
Thanks,

Hi Dave,

It's your antivirus software that's generating the link
to and message in the Office apps. Office has no built
in Antivirus. You can disable the OfficeAV plugin in
Norton Antivirus to stop the message. Norton still checks
each document or workbook when its opened.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the response. Do you know where that option resides in
SystemWorks Pro?
I can't seem to locate it.

Hi Bob,

I found what I was looking for in SystemWorks. It is located under
Miscellaneous " Enable Office Plug-in."
I disabled this, which removed the virus scan request, thereby speeding up
the startup considerably.

I then set Macro security to medium (in Word), which caused a pop-up due to
an unsigned Macro, which I am no longer using. I deleted the appropriate
..DOT file, and now all is well again!

Hope this may help others.
