Resource Pool & Corrupt File

R

Robert

On a machine running Proj Professional 2007 with SP1, no Project Server, I
have created a resource pool and added a number of resources from multiple
projects - created bothe in MSP 2003 and MSP 2007 without a problem.

When I attempt to Share resources for the "next" file, use resources from
[resource pool], Project crashes. ("Microsoft Office has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.")

Can anyone offer any suggestion about where/how to start tracking the
problem with this "next" file? It appears to be a normal, functional file
when I look at the data. I created this file in Windows Explorer by a
copy/paste of the original mpp file.

I have since created and added resources from a test file, and tried all 3
options on how to open the resource Pool, as well as restarting Project, and
rebooting the PC.

I have also run Microsoft Diagnostics from the Help menu.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi,

For any sort of reason, Project "think" that the next file either is a pool
or is connected to a different pool.
Retry Share Resources, use own resources na save as a different name (the
copy/paste is a suspect as well)
If nothing goes, select all tasks (by the ID column) from the original
file, paste into a blank file, save as.

Thanks Jan,

Occam's razor! Your sugestion to "select all tasks (by the ID column) from
the original file, paste into a blank file, save as." worked.

Before you replied, I'd gone tru Methods 1-4 at
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm #43 without success. All seems back on
track now.

Thanks again,
Robert
