Resources leveling in Consolidated project

F

felix

I consolidated two projects into one file, using the common resources pool.
Links between projects were established through Inbound/Outbound
dependencies. When I tried to check resources usage the following problem
happened: for All resources, their tasks were duplicated in the resource
usage screen, with Some tasks having their effort duplicated. That caused to
resources to show overallocation and made it impossible to level these
resources. The MS Project version I was using is: MS project Professional,
2002.

Hi Felix,

Are you using Project Server?

If not, have you checked what files the *pool* thinks it has connected?
Open the pool with the second option (Open the pool read/write). Go to
Tools > Resource Sharing > Share resources and see what files are
listed. Frequently the duplication of assignments is due to multiple
copies of the same file being connected. The multiple copies are
usually created by File Save As command, creating a copy of the file and
the "old" file is still connected as well.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
