Restoring lost input data (word doc)

My boss has been working on a Microsoft Word document for the past 5 days.
She saved the document regularly. She opened the document today, worked for
about 3 hours, saved it and when she re-opened the document it was empty..
Completely blank!! I have looked in the recent folder/my documents/searched
for any other saved copies but they all come back blank. Is there anyway I
can retrieve the work she has done, or restore the document back to this
morning because it was fine then. I’m really at a loss to how to retrieve the
information she’s typed up.
I would appreciate any help or advice and thank you for your time reading
this. BTW, my appraisal is on 20th March

If your boss has "Always create backup copy" enabled (Tools | Options |
Save), there's a chance of finding a "Copy of <filename>.wbk" copy of the
previous version. Otherwise, I suspect she's SOL. Did she perhaps open the
doc from an email attachment?

Hello Susanne.. thanks for the reply. I did a search for *.wbk but nothing
came up. I suspect she saved the original copy as she worked on it. I will
check again on Monday but I've got a horrible idea that the data has been
lost or she's saved the blank version. She downloaded the original template
from a secure website and worked on it from the saved location (my documents).

I was surprised to see she didn't have any up to date virus protection, so
I'm going to install that on Monday and see if I can retrieve the lost data.
I'm not holding much hope though.

Hello Terry and thanks for replying. I haven't got access to the document
until Monday so I'm sorry but I haven't got that information at the moment.
