restoring overwritten files in word

I opened a word file, modified it and forgot to use 'save
as'. instead i have over written the original file. any
one know how i can restore the original and keep the
current file

Hi, mem,

If you have checked the box in Tools > Options > Save for "Always create
backup copy", you'll find a file in the same folder named "Backup of
xyz.wbk" that contains the previous version of your document. If that's not
available, your only recourse would be a (typically very expensive)
data-recovery company that will take your hard disk and subject it to very
sophisticated analysis -- which is a good reason to keep that option
checked.

Did you get an answer for this. I just did the same thing ontop of essay information I need tomorrow. Help!
