Return address in Word 2000

Bob

When printing an envelope in MS Word 2000, it will not save the return address. It has been this way ever since I installed it. Word 97 worked fine, but not Word 2000. This was a clean install, and has all the updates. ???

Hi Bob,

This information is stored in the Word\Data key in the Registry and it
is a little susceptible to corruption. You might try recreating this
key to see if that rectifies the problem.

Exit Word and in the Registry navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Data

and rename the Data key. Word will create a new one upon starting.

As always, prior to making any changes to the Registry you should
review "Backing up the Registry" and "Restoring the Registry" in the
Registry Help.

In this situation you may want to use the Registry/Export Registry
file command, export your selected branch, and delete the key. That
way if you find the change wasn't necessary or incorrect, you can
merge the deleted branch back to the Registry by double-clicking the
resulting file.

I have the same problem with Office XP. The address is saved between
printing different envelopes during the same session but once I exit Word
and restart, the address requires to be re-entered.

Thanks Beth. Deleted the "data" key in Word as you suggested, re entered the
return address and everything now works. Have tested after a cold reboot
and the return address is still in place.

Thanks for your advice.
