Revised resource max units is not reflected in assignment units.

We're in the planning process of setting up a project so many values are
subject to change per meetings, discussions, etc.
I've revised some of my resource max units, but my new value is not
reflected in the assigment units. I do revise the max units - in the
resource view. The project is quite large, but with few resources so
deleting and re-adding the resource really isn't a viable option. ?

For the sake of curiosity of revised max units to high and low values just
to see if this affects assignment units, i.e., 100%, 150%, 1%, etc., - no
change. What am I missing?

Any and all appreciated!

Mike,
I think you may be a bit confused about max units and assignment units -
they are completely different concepts. Max units, is as it says, the
max number of units of a given resource that is available to assign to
tasks. Assignment units on the other hand is the amount of a resource
that is assigned to any given task.

The interaction of max units and assignment units determines when a
resource becomes overallocated. For example, let's say you have a
resource with a max unit level of 100% (i.e. one body, assuming its a
labor resource). You can assign that resource at 100% to multiple tasks.
If those tasks are in succession and do not overlap, you can go on
assigning that resource 100% until the cows come home. However, if you
assign that resource at 100% to simultaneous or overlapping tasks, that
resource will become overallocated (i.e. you've asked him to work on
more stuff than he can at any given time given his normal work schedule).

The bottom line - max resource units does NOT affect resource assignment
units, it just sets limits on when the resource becomes overallocated.

Hope this helps.
