Rules-Wanto to move email AFTER I read

T

TRC

I woul like to move emails AFTER I read them. The rules I can find move a
copy of them right a way, not after read. So, when I look at emails that are
unread it is all of them..even the ones I have read, but appear in the
undread folder also. Another issue of this is that when I delete all the
unread ones..it deletes it also from the rule folders I specified. I want to
keep them in the rule folders.

So, my thought is if there is a rule that will move a copy of the email
after it has been read..i can actually delete the unread emails and not
effect the emails in the specified folders.

There are no rules that operate after you read messages unless you run them
manually.

The Unread Mail folder is NOT a real folder. It is a search context that
looks at all your other folders and shows you the unread mesages in those
folders. Naturally deleting a message will delete it from the original
folder, since that'ws the only place it resides. You'll still see it in
Unread Mail, however, since it will be in Deleted Items but still unread and
Unread Mail searched Deleted Items as well. If you were to actually look at
the fields in the Unread Mail folder, you'd see a "In Folder" field that tells
you what folder contains the message.

you'd need an and to move messages later. The unread folder does not have a
copy of the messages that are unread - it has a pointer to the unread
messages. if you mark them read in the unread folder, they will disappear
from it when you refresh the view.

I guess I'm a little confused...what I really would like to do is set up a
rule that would move the email AFTER it has been read to the appropriate
folder i have set up
I'm not finding that rule anywhere. I'm sorry i confused everyone.

I do understand the object of the unread folder...but a majority of my unread
messages are spam/junk...so, when I go through that section...there are
waaaaayyyyyyy too many to look at each day/week....hundreds and hundreds of
junks.... So, when I am looking for REAL unread messages I am having a hard
time find them in the mess of junk. So, I thought if I was able to apply a
rule that says move AFTER read...it might help.

Thanks...

You cannot set up such a rule, for 'after read'

If your inbox is getting overwelmed with spam, then seems like you should be
setting up some rules, at the very least

Are the spam/junks showing up in your Inbox, or are they going to the Junk
E-Mail folder?

As in the junk mail folder? it should be excluded from unread, but if not,
you can change the folders the unread search folder checks for unread
messages to eliminate the annoying ones you don't need to see.

right click, customize this folder...

And I already said that you can't create a rule that fires automatically after
a message has been read. You can, though, create a rule that does the move
and then run it manually after you've read some messages. Whether or not that
would prove useful only you can decide.
