Save unchanged file

Does anyone know why Macro$carf (you know, the BIG
software company that scarfs in the $ on a large scale),
in their "passion" to impede my "potential" has decided to
consider ANY opening of a Word file to be a change to the
file?

Whenever I open a Word file to read, which happens quite
often, when I attempt to close the file (close menu, exit,
or the 'x' button) Word asks if I want to save the changes
I have made to the file. Strange since I have made no
changes. Does Word consider scrolling through the file
and moving the cursor changes????

Seems the more Macro$carf "improves" their products, the
worse they become.

I'm not being mean but if Microsoft was such a horrible program they
wouldn't have half of America using it. You can use any software program
that you choose..nobody is holding a gun to your head to use it.

Your program must not be working correctly..if you dont' make changes the
document closes without any problem.

Does the document contain any fields? Some fields are updated when you
open the document, or if you change views, and this might cause the
prompt to save.

Another thing to consider is the automatic spell check. Does
deselecting the "Check spelling as you type" on the Spelling & Grammar
tab of the Options dialog box make a difference?

First of all, there is no such program at Microsoft as
what he named.
Secondly, actually it will ask to save changes if
you have Field Updates turned on, because, having been
told to update the fields, it does so, because it was
told to do so. So, uhh, actually it's the OP's own
doing, along with his inability to read and comprehend
if he does read. Word's Help would have explained that
to him in less time than it took to send the post. Oh,
sorry - he can't be bothered - someone has to do
everything for him.

Not in the program he referenced; he's in the wrong
newsgroup - this is Microsoft.

Why would anyone come to a Microsoft "support" forum..trash Microsoft..and
then ask for help.

Umm, I think Word was inferred from:
"ANY opening of a Word file to be a change to the
