Scenerio...

Two projects inserted in a master project using shared resource pool.

first task in both uses the same resource set up with a calendar for 23hours
per day
first task in both has same start date
first project task has a duration of 20 hours
second project task has a duration of 18 hours

both start same time, as soon as possible, same resource
result is there is an overallocation

But project displays resource usage for each task as a split of work at "15"
hours a piece on the first day
that means 30 hours total work on the first day that has a resource calendar
constraint of 23 hours.
Why 30 hours and not 32 or for that matter not the full 38? What is the
resoning behind 15 hours per task
23 / 2 = 11.5. I could understand.

Hi John,

I assume your first tasks in each project (driven by
project start date) are set to start at 8:00 AM. From
8:00 am to 12:00 AM (end of the first day, is 15 hours.)
You may find it helpful to show both date and time
(Tools --> Options --> View tab Date Format) for your
tasks.

Hope this helps.

JulieS thanks

Yeah, I was forgetting as I was moving this stuff from other projects that
the Project Start Date didn't include the full day.
It's like you are in the room with me, where is that camera? Am I about to
get "Punked"

Hi John,

Not to worry - no cameras. Just think of it as
channeling lost Project souls ;-)

Glad to have been of help. Enjoy project (yes it is
possible, given time.)

Eeeeek...Not the shadow people!

They visit every night, scurry malicious through the waning conscious world,
....cool, damp smoke on a windy night.

I didn't now Project was what made them so petty and mean. ;-)
