Scheduling Resources based on availability

I am currently trying to complete a Gantt Chart for a project i am managing.
I need to schedule specific tasks based on the availability of each
individual resource. For instance, i can not have two parts programmed at the
same time because there is only one programmer working this job. I also
cannot have two parts machined at the same time because we only have one of
that specific machine. I was told there is a way to achieve this ability, but
i am unsure as to where to start.

Hi learningaccess,

If you have created the resources, you may assign the resource to both of
the programming tasks. This will cause an overallocation of the programmer
resource. You may then use Resource Leveling (Tools > Level Resources) to
have Project delay one of the tasks to a time when the resource is
available.
