"score data"

Lately when I use Word or Excel (not CREATE a new doc--just opening
one and closing it), a little document entitled "score data" always
shows up on my desktop, and it is unopenable. I don't use either of
these apps very often, but when I initially installed Office and used
them, I am certain such a thing never appeared. And I can find no info
about it when I search Office's Help.

I'm curious as to what it is, but honestly I'd just like it to GO
AWAY!

If it matters, I am using 10.4.9. Thanks for any help.

Turns out it was caused by an app called Across Lite, a free app which
enables one to do newspaper crossword puzzles online. It is the only
thing I've downloaded recently, so I trashed it, and, sure enough,
when I then created a Word document, no corresponding "score data"
document showed up.

I shall redownload it as I like the software, and I'll just ignore the
"score data" docs. I guess I should also pass on info about the glitch
to the software makers.

Appreciated your suggestion. I never associated the glitch with other
software and kept looking within Office for the solution.

Glad you solved the mystery - and that it wasn't any more damaging than that
:)
