scroll bars for text boxes

how do i add a vertical scroll to a standard text box in powerpoint

You can not add a scroll bar to a standard text box in PowerPoint.

However, you can add a scroll bar to a 'control' text box. Theses are
accessed thru View => Toolbars => Control toolbox => Text Box. You may then
need to adjust the properties of this text box to include scrollbars and
multiple lines of text.

Although these two things share the same name, they are very different
animals.
