selecting email account when sending a new email

I have 3 email accounts in Outlook 2003 that I send and receive emails from.
I used to be able to change the email account in which to Send a new email
from; but that feature disappeared at some point. I checked the support page
and tried to find instructions on how to set up Outlook 2003 to allow you to
be able to select a different email address to send an email from rather than
always sending emails from the main, default email address. The instructions
said to click on "Accounts" in a new email. I do not have that option
anywhere in a new email message and I do not see "Accounts" anywhere in the
main menu for Outlook. Can anyone help me find out what happened and why I
can't select a different email address to send a new email from? I am using
Vista 64-bit; and I have had plenty of crashes with Outlook 2003 since I
installed it onto this computer running Vista...but it usually just restarts
the program and I can operate it normally once it does. THANKS VERY MUCH for
any assistance you can offer!

It's not "accountS" it's "Account" and it's a button under the "Send"
button. (At least it is in 2007 - haven't used 2003 for some years)

I understand it's not "accountS." There is no word "Account" under the Send
button. I'm telling you it's not anywhere to be found. I'm not a beginner
computer or Outlook user and I'm not looking past it... it's not there at
all. I remember being able to use the feature, but the word "Account" is not
there anymore and I don't know how to get it back. Possibly removing Outlook
and reinstalling it.??

Do you have more than one e-mail account defined within your mail profile?
You said that you have 3 e-mail accounts defined, but have you checked?

Have you installed an add-on to Outlook that attempts to modify the toolbar
in Outlook? Could be it corrupted the toolbar definition. Right-click on
the toolbar, Customize, Toolbars tab, select the Standard toolbar, and click
Reset. If that doesn't return the Account button in the toolbar, see if it
reappears if you start Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe").
Continual crashing of Outlook probably means you installed an add-on that
isn't compatible with Outlook anymore. You'll need to uninstall that add-on
or get a newer version of it.

The account button only shows if you have more than one email account set
up.
Do you have more than one email account set up?

I am not sure what you are asking me about the 3 different email accounts. I have each account defined by itself and when outlook sends/receives, it separates the emails into the separate files I created so that they are not all grouped together in one folder (Each account is setup to send and receive through it's own POP account).

I also clicked on an option to show the "FROM:" field, but that doesn't allow you to choose which account to send the email from... but it looks like you can type something custom in there to show to the recipient.

I R-clicked the toolbar and reset it... I see no change. Yes, I do have one thing called "YouSendIt" installed onto the toolbar to help me email very large files. It is possible that the "Account" option disappeared when I installed that because I don't use that feature too often. Do you know if anything has been reported about "YouSendIt" operating with Outlook? I would remove it if I had to, but I like the feature sending VERY large emails for me with no difficulties. Upgrading to a newer version of Outlook is difficult due to financial issues at this time, and I would rather keep the YouSendIt or get something else to help send super large files (I have StuffIt, but the files are still large when emailing).

VanguardLH... sometimes I can't think of what to do because I'm always working on so many things at once... After reading your last message about a possible plug-in kink, I performed a "detect and repair" feature from the Help section of Outlook. After performing the "detect and repair," the "Accounts" button showed back up on my toolbar! THANKS VERY VERY MUCH for your help!!! I really appreciate it!

Then you should go to Help -> About -> Disabled Items to see if the repair
disabled any of your add-ons to Outlook. If there is a disabled item,
uninstall it and then check if a newer version is available.

I don't use YouSendIt's add-on. I don't see a reason for such an add-on.
While it makes it easier to utilize an account you are pre-configured with
them, I would use it so rarely that having a questionable add-on for a
rarely used function doesn't make sense in destabilizing Outlook.

There are lots of online file storage services available and many provide
for a *lot* more storage than YouSendIt (100MB), like:

If it is sensitive content and when storing it online in a public storage
area or to guard it against whomever operates the online storage service,
remember to encrypt it. I doubt the YouSentIt add-on is encrypting the
content of your attachment that you upload to them so be careful about the
content of what you upload to them.
