Selecting font and style

I am a newbie to the publisher and to publishing in general. I need a recommendation on what font and font size to use for a newsletter body? I realize it is a personal preference choice but I was wondering if there are maybe like 3 or 4 fonts most commonly used as Body Text. In my Word documents I mostly use Times New Roman but I am not sure if it is a good choice for a newletter

Thank you in advance for any suggestions

TNR is the most-used serif face these days, and Arial (Courier) is a
favored sans serif. Afont size of 10 points is in general use; old
farts like me find 12-point easier on the eyes, however...

It depends on what look and feel you want, what typefaces you have
available, and what sort of layout you're planning. So for example, if you
have four narrow columns, Times is a reasonable good choice: it was designed
precisely for that purpose. If you've got two wider columns and want a
slightly cleaner more modern look, then Palatino might suit your purposes
(installed with Windows XP). If you want a very contemporary look, then see
if you have any humanist sans-serif faces, such as Gill Sans. There's a
selection of these installed with most Corel software - one of the cheapest
ways of getting a wide range of typrefaces - such as Humanist 521 (a version
of Gill Sans) or Humanist 777 (a version of Frutiger). And there are plenty
of others, some more modern, some more traditional. The main point is to
make sure that whatever font you choose for body copy, you have proper
roman, bold, italic, and possibly bold italic versions installed on your PC.
