Guillaume Genest

Hi,
I noticed that the menu "Send To" accessed from file
menu is not present in excel XP and excel 2003 when it is
installed on a terminal server.

Any ideas how to reactivate it?

thanks!

Hi Guillaume,

According to your description, I know that the Send To command is missing
on the File menu. If I misunderstood your concern, please feel free to let
me know.

Based on my experience and research, this behavior may occur Outlook is not
installed. I would suggest you install and configure Outlook on this
computer and check if this issue reoccurs.

If there is anything unclear or you need further assistance on this issue,
please feel free to let me know.

Regards,

Ada Pan

Hi,
thanks for this answer, I don't have outlook installed
for a reason and i don't want to install it on all my
terminal server. We are using Lotus Notes.

Is there any way to make this "send to" menu appear
without installing outlook?

thanks

No, Office automation requires Outlook.

Perhaps this is a Lotus Notes issue. People I know who are afflicted with
Lotus Notes tell me that it does not play well with Microsoft products,
and vice versa. Things may be different with newer versions, but my Excel
2000 has a "Send to" function on the Files menu and it works perfectly
well with Outlook Express. I've never had Outlook installed on this
system.

Hi Guillaume,

Based on my research, this problem could be caused by the mail support
services must be installed and functioning before Microsoft Excel is
installed. Microsoft Excel can recognize when they are available only
during installation. If they are available then the "Send To" menu item is
enabled.

Microsoft office applications use MAPI technology and Lotus Notes uses VIM.
To translate from a MAPI application to VIM several elements must be
enabled in a set sequence. First Microsoft messaging must be enabled.

Add the following entry into the Win.ini file (by using either the plain
text editor or the Sysedit utility), under the Mail heading. Some lines may
exist, but all are needed for this feature. After you add these lines,
reboot your computer:

[Mail]

MAPI=1

CMC=1

CMCDLLNAME=mapi.dll

CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll

MAPIX=1

MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1

OLEMessaging=1

Then check if this issue reoccurs.

If there is anything unclear or you need further assistance on this issue,
please feel free to let me know.

Hi,
This is not really a lotus notes issue because i don't
want my users to be able to user Send Mail from the "Send
To" Menu, I only want the menu to place a link to
Laserfiche Database (an electronic file manager system).

so i don't need any mapi setting, i only want the same
thing that when i right click on a file and use the
menu "Send To".

thanks!

Hi Guillaume,

Based on your information, it seems that you want to create a shortcut to a
certain program when you right click on a file and use Send to. To do it,
you may create a shortcut to link the program and place it in the following
folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\SendTo

If you cannot find the folder, you may perform the following steps to
enable Hidden Files on your computer:

1. Close all the applications and Open My computer.
2. Click on Tools->Folder Options.
3. Click on the view tab and under Advanced Settings, check "Show Hidden
Files and folders" and uncheck "Hide File Extensions for known file types",
click apply and click OK.
4. Close My computer.

I hope this information helps.
