Server files not deleting

I recently deleted a page on my computer. Teh file is
gone and it doesn't show up on the navigation view. Teh
related button therefore does not appear on my pages.
This is all as it should be.

However - the web site on the server still has the page
and the the navigation button to it still exists and it
indeed works and links to the page that I thought was
deleted.

What's happening? Why hasn't the navigation button
disappeared and how do I get rid of that page I no longer
want. I've tried making other changes to force an update,
and those changes work.

Try recalculating the hyperlinks and then
re-publishing the site.

Hard to say why one file updates and the others don't

The quick fix is to open your web live and delete the button and page. This will take care of the issue and you can troubleshoot it. later

I did get it to work. What I did was to create a new file
on my computer with the same name as the one on the
server that hadn't deleted before. I published that and
the file was replaced. Then I deleted that file on my
computer and published again - and this time it worked.
