Service Pak update, now word 2002 docs are "not found"

The computer guy loaded these service paks to update my
XP system. Was getting the PDFMaker... instabilities...
error message. Tried to correct it using Knowledge Base
article 302596, but now I'm getting an error message
every time I try to open an old word file that "file does
not exist." Also, every time I shut down Word, I get a
message about changes to the normal doc.

How can I fix this?
