setting up frames

I'm having a hard time understanding frames. I have all my pages built. I
have a frames template saved with navigation bars on the left column.

However, when I try to insert a new page in the right column of the
frame(the webpage), by clicking the hyperlink to insert it, (i.e. Contact)
then when I try to save it, saves my template to the new name of Contact.

Or, if I try to save it as Contact and I have another page built as Contact
(the one I imported as a hyperlink), it won't save it because I have another
page by that name.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a tutorial somewhere or some good
step-by-step instructions on how to make the whole website frame friendly?

Thanks!

Not sure what is wrong but I can tell you how I go about creating a frames
page and it works without a hitch everytime.
I start out with creating a blank HTM for each sector I want in frames. Then
I create the frame page and instead of clicking new blank page for the
frames I use the empty files I created. Then before editing anything I save
the page. The only filename it asks for is then the frames page and I save
it under either index.htm or whatever the starting name is that I want.
Works without any confusion.
